What are the dates for January Orientation?

The dates for January Orientation are Friday and Saturday,  January 9-10, 2015. Residential students may move into their residence halls on January 8th.


 

 

Is January Orientation mandatory for all students?

Yes. Orientation is essential in providing to you all the resources you need to make your time at UMW as successful and fulfilling as possible. Please not that you will be billed for it whether or not you attend.


 

Can residential students move in before January 9th?

 

Yes. Residential Students may move in Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. Check in at the front desk of Eagle Landing.  Residential students will be checked in for Orientation at this time.  For move-in day instructions, see students.umw.edu/residencelife/springnew


 

Do I have to pay anything in advance to attend?

No. The $75 chare will automatically be included on your spring bill.


 

Can I register for classes before I attend January Orientation?

Yes. We encourage you to register for classes before Orientation by contacting Academic and Career Services at 540/654-1010, or you may do so in person. Course registration opens Nov. 10, 2014.


 

Can I bring a parent or guests to Orientation?

Parents and guests are welcome to attend Day 1 of Orientation with you. There is an additional cost of $40 for parents and guests to cover program expenses.


 

How do I request disability-related accommodations?

If you wish to request disability-related accommodations, please contact the Student Activities and Engagement Office at 540/654-1061 by Dec. 15, 2014.


 

 

Do I need a parking permit?

You will be given a permit for Orientation upon your arrival, at no additional charge.  Please note that first-year students are not allowed to have a car on campus upon move-in. Parking passes for the school year are available through Parking Management.


 

 

How do I register?

You may register for orientation HERE.  Be sure to follow the registration instructions carefully.


 

 

What if I can’t attend both days of Orientation?

Students are very strongly encouraged to attend both days of Orientation. However, if you cannot attend the Saturday portion of the program, please contact the Office of Student Activities and Engagement at 540-654-1061 to speak with someone about your situation.


 

 

How do I get more information about Orientation? Including schedule specifics.

The specifics of the schedule are forthcoming. However, the Orientation check-in on Friday, Jan. 9 begins at 8 am and the Orientation program begins at 11:30 am.

University offices, including Academic and Career Services, will open at 8 am on January 9, 2015 for your convenience.
