Local Service Projects
One in six Americans struggle with hunger. In our own community, one in four children are dealing with food insecurity, meaning they are not getting enough greens in their daily diet. During NEST the students will have an opportunity to provide assistance to these families. We will travel to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank and work on a few projects including sorting food and assembling food packages for families in need. Students will then take their service back to UMW’s campus. The University is likely to become home for at least the next four years and it is important for each of us to do our part in making sure that it remains the beautiful campus that we know and love. We will do this by participating in a campus cleanup and helping remove invasive plants around campus.
