Orientation is a mandatory experience for new students entering the university. New students entering the summer of 2017 or fall of 2017 should be prepared to attend UMW’s summer orientation program. The summer orientation program occurs over multiple days for first-year students and over one day for transfer students.
At orientation, students will explore campus, have one-on-one time with an academic advisor if they choose, learn about resources available to them as they transition to academic and student life at UMW, and generally start to become acquainted with activities that they can be involved in at UMW.
First-year students will have the opportunity to register for classes on the second day of the orientation experience. Choose the orientation date that works for best for you, a number of seats in introductory classes will be held for each orientation session.
Transfer students are encouraged to contact Academic Services to set up their course schedule before arriving to orientation. Academic Services can be reached at (540) 654-1010. Students will have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor when the arrive for orientation.
Before you get arrive over the summer, you can explore the UMW Fredericksburg campus through this virtual tour.
